Clark Vargas, PE

We are pleased to announce a new association with Clark Vargas, PE, an expert in the design of outdoor firing ranges. Clark’s experience complements Clark Nexsen’s world-class portfolio of firing ranges and training facilities, offering our clients a comprehensive source of firing range expertise.

Over the last 30 years, Clark has led the design of more than 1,000 new or rehabilitated indoor and outdoor firing range facilities for a mix of municipal, military, and private clients. His range design experience includes important considerations such as ballistic containment, bullet catchment and recycling, acoustical controls, range controls, ventilation, and lighting for both indoor and outdoor firing ranges.

“Clark has outstanding experience,” notes Bobby Cummings, PE, principal and leader of Clark Nexsen’s Public Safety practice. “He knows firing range design inside and out – as an engineer, as a competitive shooter himself, and as a former officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His strengths complement ours, and I’m excited for how this association will expand the resources our clients have access to.”

Based in Jacksonville, FL, Clark is a civil engineer and a shooting sports enthusiast who has served as past president of the Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club and the Florida Sport Shooting Association (the NRA’s official state association). Clark also served as SASS Territorial Governor during its formative years, is a USPSA life member, and an alumnus of the Jacksonville FBI Citizen’s Academy. He has served on a number of local, state, and national boards for engineering and land management, including a 10-year stint on Jacksonville’s Environmental Protection Board.
